Swift Basecamp Plus 2 – 2022 Caravan

If you want a caravan that keeps up with your lifestyle rather than the other way round, the Swift Basecamp Plus 2 is built for exactly that. It’s a tough, compact crossover for people who would rather be out doing things than fussing over their caravan.

Built on Swift Caravans’ SMART construction, this pre-owned 2022 model has a full GRP (fibreglass) outer shell and floor, which makes it far more resilient to damp and road damage than a conventional panel-sided caravan. The weight plate shows an MRO of 932kg and an MTPLM of 1300kg, which leaves a payload of 368kg and keeps it within reach of a wide range of family cars on a standard UK licence. • What Owners Love About The Basecamp Plus 2
    • Easy to tow: at just 932kg unladen, plenty of family cars can pull it on a standard UK licence.
    • Rear loading door: bikes, boards and bulky kit go straight in without a fight through a side door.
    • Built to take a knock: the full GRP shell and floor cope well with stone chips, road spray and wet weather.
    • Fits small pitches: at about 5.10m long, it gets onto tighter sites and Certificated Locations that longer tourers can’t reach.
    • Proper payload: 368kg means you can pack for the trip instead of deciding what to leave behind.
  • INTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS

    Bedroom
The two front couches convert into a large double bed, or can be set up as two singles of up to around 6’2″. Floor fixing points beneath the front seating let you strap bikes down inside for the journey.

    Washroom
The compact rear washroom has a cassette toilet, a sink and an integrated shower, so you’re not relying on site facilities.

    Lounge
Two generous front couches sit beneath a panoramic front window that brings in plenty of natural light. Removable clip-out storage bags double as carry bags, so you can take your kit straight from caravan to campsite.

    Kitchen
You get a 3-burner gas hob, oven and grill, and an 85-litre fridge, which is plenty for proper cooked meals. A recessed pop-up tower provides electric sockets and keeps the worktop clear.

    Technology
Heating and hot water come from a Whale blown-air system. A Sargent electrical unit is fitted in the overhead locker for the caravan’s 230v power.

  • EXTERIOR & TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

The Basecamp looks different from a traditional tourer because it’s meant to. Its rugged, angular bodywork gives it more of an outdoor-gear look than a typical caravan.

The rear door is the standout feature. It opens up a load-through space for larger items, so bikes, boards and camping gear go in without the usual side-door shuffle.

The full GRP outer shell and floor add real protection against stone chips, road spray and moisture, one of the main concerns when buying any used caravan. On a single axle and at around 5.10m long, it’s easy to manoeuvre, park and store. You can check this caravan’s history on the CRiS website before you buy.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

Can my car tow the Swift Elegance 480?
With a maximum laden weight (MTPLM) of 1,500 kg, the Elegance 480 is within comfortable towing range for a wide variety of mid-size family cars such as a Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sorento, or Ford Kuga. As a general rule, your car’s kerbweight should ideally match or exceed the caravan’s MTPLM for stable towing. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’ll help you check.

Has this caravan been damp checked?
Every used caravan we sell at Golden Castle undergoes a thorough pre-sale inspection including a full damp check. We’re happy to walk you through the results and show you the readings in person when you visit.

How can I check the history of this caravan?
You can run an independent history check using the CRiS (Central Registration and Identification Scheme) at www.cris.co.uk. The VIN for this caravan is SGDST5GSWM0928130. This will confirm ownership history, any outstanding finance, theft records, and insurance write-off status.

    Do you accept part exchange?
Yes — we welcome part exchanges against any of our used caravans. Bring your current tourer along when you visit and we’ll give you a fair, no-obligation valuation on the spot.

What does the Powrtouch Freedom mover actually do?
The Powrtouch Freedom is a motor mover fitted to the caravan’s wheels. Using a wireless handheld remote, you can drive the caravan forwards, backwards, and steer it left or right without touching the drawbar. It makes pitching on tight or sloping sites completely manageable for one person.
