They act as spacer or buffer pieces between the pole bracket hook (Unilok style) and the caravan rail to eliminate slack or mismatch in height—for example when the rail is stepped and the bracket would otherwise sit loosely. These pads help reduce bracket movement, rattling in wind, and protect both the fabric and metal parts from rubbing or damage. Especially useful if your awning or bracket feels loose when pegged or when rain runs off and water routes over uneven fittings.

1. Will SL539 fit my awning?
   Yes — if your awning uses the Unilok bracket style and has a secondary beading system. It’s compatible with both stepped and flush caravan awning rails.

2. How do I install a bracket pad?
   Take off the bracket, slide the Unilok pad over the bracket hook, then slot the hook into your awning rail. Ensure it sits flush and tighten the clasp.

3. Why might I need one of these pads?
   If your awning bracket is loose because the rail is stepped or slightly out of alignment, water or wind causes rattling, or if there’s wear at the bracket interface. The pad helps close the gap for a tighter, more stable fit.

4. How many should I buy?
   If only one bracket is mis-fitting, a single SL539B works. But better stability comes from doing all brackets on that side or both sides – hence the 3-pack is useful.

5. Does it affect waterproofing or fabric wear?
   In a good way — by reducing slack or movement, it lowers rubbing or abrasion of fabric or metal parts, which helps maintain fabric integrity and reduces risk of water ingress around worn brackets.

6. Is the pad durable and resistant to weather?
   Yes — ABS-type plastic used is weather resistant, able to handle the UV, damp and general wear from repeated attachment/removal.

7. How will it perform in windy conditions?
   It improves stability of bracket-to-rail connection, reducing movement. However, it’s not a substitute for proper pegging, fly sheets or secure straps in wind.

8. Can I use it on non-Camptech awnings?
   Possibly — if the awning uses similar bracket hooks and rail sizes. But best when using with Camptech’s Unilok system.
