  • Additional Product Information

The Secure Plus Strap SL580 is compatible with Camptech Traditional & Seasonal awnings manufactured from 2016 to present day. It is an optional but highly recommended accessory for longer pitches, sites exposed to gusty wind or coastal locations. The strap connects to the awning’s front centre support (pole or beam) and pegs into the ground, allowing you to pull the front down and reduce the risk of uplift. It’s designed to be durable with high-quality webbing and hardware.

  • Frequently Asked Questions
    • Will the SL580 strap fit my awning?
Yes — it works with most Traditional & Seasonal Camptech awnings made since 2016. If your awning has a front centre support pole (or equivalent beam) it should attach correctly.

    • How do I fit it?
Attach the steel clip to the front centre support; run the strap down to stake into the ground using the steel pegs; adjust tension via the ratchet or buckle; check tension occasionally after strong wind.

    • Will this prevent uplift in strong wind?
It helps significantly, by pulling the front centre down. It reduces lift at the vulnerable front edge. However, in extreme winds you should also close panels, use additional straps, and follow manufacturer’s recommendations.

    • Is it suitable for all ground types?
Mostly yes — the provided steel pegs are sturdy, but if the ground is very soft, sandy or rocky, you may need longer or more robust pegs to ensure good anchorage.

    • How heavy / bulky is it?
It’s relatively lightweight since it’s one strap with clips and pegs; bulk is modest. Easy to pack alongside your awning kit.

    • Does it corrode or degrade easily?
The hardware is steel; care should be taken to rinse off salt/spray in coastal sites to prevent rust. The webbing is durable, but UV exposure will degrade over time, so pack away when not needed.

    • What’s included in the package?
As listed under “Included Features”: the strap, clip, ratchet adjuster, buckle, spring tensioner, steel pegs.

    • What warranty is provided?
It carries the standard 12-month manufacturer’s warranty from Camptech covering defects in materials and workmanship.

    • How much extra stability does this strap give?
Enough to reduce front lift substantially, especially in gusty or coastal wind. Best used as part of a wider anchoring setup (pegs, side straps, correct pitching) to maximise stability.

    • Do I need this strap for touring or seasonal use?
For touring in calmer sites it’s optional; for seasonal pitches or exposed/coastal camping it is highly recommended to protect the awning and improve longevity.
