Swift Elegance 480 – 2021 Caravan

The Swift Elegance 480 is the flagship of Swift’s touring range — a compact, beautifully finished 2-berth caravan that punches well above its size. Built on Swift Caravans’ proven SMART Plus construction platform, the bodyshell is fully bonded, timberless, and wrapped in tough GRP outer and inner skins, giving you outstanding long-term resistance to damp and delamination.

This pre-owned 2021 example tips the scales at just 1,351 kg unladen (MRO) with a maximum laden weight (MTPLM) of 1,500 kg, so it sits comfortably within towing range for a wide choice of mid-size family cars on a standard UK licence. Better still, it comes fitted with a verified Powrtouch Freedom motor mover, so once you arrive on site there’s no wrestling the caravan into position by hand — just guide it on the remote and you’re pitched up in minutes.

If you’re looking for a well-specified, easy-to-tow tourer with premium heating and proper build quality, this Elegance 480 is well worth a closer look. Browse our full range of used caravans to see what else we have on the forecourt.

  • What Owners Love About The Elegance 480
    • Silent Alde wet heating — radiator-style warmth throughout the caravan with no fan noise, just like home central heating
    • Powrtouch Freedom mover — pitch and reposition the caravan single-handedly without breaking a sweat
    • Full-width end washroom — a proper separate shower cubicle, not a cramped wet room, with space to get dressed comfortably
    • Roof-mounted solar panel — keeps the leisure battery topped up between trips and extends your off-grid capability
    • Compact, confident tow — at 1,500 kg fully laden on a single axle with AL-KO AKS stabiliser, it tows calmly behind a sensible family car
  • INTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS

    Bedroom
The front lounge doubles as the sleeping area, converting at night into a generous double bed or two shorter singles. Cushions lift easily on gas-assisted struts, and there’s a central chest of drawers beneath a slide-out coffee table during the day. Overhead lockers and side shelving provide plenty of stowage for personal items.

    Washroom
A real highlight of the 480 layout — the full-width rear washroom acts as a private dressing room. It features a fully lined square shower cubicle, a vanity basin with illuminated mirror, a Thetford swivel-bowl cassette toilet, and a large integrated wardrobe for hanging clothes. An Alde radiator panel in the washroom keeps towels warm and the room dry.

    Lounge
The front lounge is bright and airy thanks to a panoramic glass sunroof flooding the space with natural light. Parallel bench seating sits either side of a central chest, and the upholstery throughout is finished in the Elegance’s signature neutral tones. A pair of scatter cushions and a well-placed reading light at each end complete a comfortable living space.

    Kitchen
The central galley kitchen is seriously well equipped for a 2-berth. Fenix NTM scratch-resistant worktops provide a durable prep surface, and the cooking set-up includes a dual-fuel hob (3 gas burners plus 1 electric hotplate), a separate oven and grill, and an integrated microwave. A full-height Dometic dual-opening fridge-freezer sits at the end of the kitchen run, giving you proper food storage for longer trips.

    Technology
The Swift Command smart control panel — visible in the photos as the small digital display near the entrance — lets you monitor battery levels, fresh water status, and heating at a glance. The system also connects via Bluetooth and mobile signal for remote monitoring through the Swift Command app. A Sargent electrical management system handles the 12 V and 230 V circuits, and a Vision Plus VP3 digital TV amplifier feeds the built-in aerial for Freeview reception on site.

  • EXTERIOR & TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Underneath, the Elegance 480 rides on a galvanised AL-KO chassis paired with an AKS stabiliser hitch for anti-snaking reassurance on the motorway. The verified Powrtouch Freedom motor mover is fitted to both wheels and operated by wireless remote, giving you precise, finger-tip control when manoeuvring on site.

On the roof, a factory-fitted solar panel continuously trickle-charges the leisure battery, reducing your reliance on hook-up and keeping the Swift Command tracker alive during storage. A Thule awning rail runs the full length of the awning side, ready for a roll-out or a full awning. The external service points include a mains water inlet, a 230 V external socket point, and a TV aerial connection — all confirmed in the photographs. The onboard fresh water tank and dual-supply plumbing (internal tank or external Aquaroll) are neatly housed beneath the lounge seating, complete with winterisation guide for off-season draining.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

Can my car tow the Swift Elegance 480?
With a maximum laden weight (MTPLM) of 1,500 kg, the Elegance 480 is within comfortable towing range for a wide variety of mid-size family cars such as a Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sorento, or Ford Kuga. As a general rule, your car’s kerbweight should ideally match or exceed the caravan’s MTPLM for stable towing. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’ll help you check.

Has this caravan been damp checked?
Every used caravan we sell at Golden Castle undergoes a thorough pre-sale inspection including a full damp check. We’re happy to walk you through the results and show you the readings in person when you visit.

How can I check the history of this caravan?
You can run an independent history check using the CRiS (Central Registration and Identification Scheme) at www.cris.co.uk. The VIN for this caravan is SGDST5GSWM0928130. This will confirm ownership history, any outstanding finance, theft records, and insurance write-off status.

    Do you accept part exchange?
Yes — we welcome part exchanges against any of our used caravans. Bring your current tourer along when you visit and we’ll give you a fair, no-obligation valuation on the spot.

What does the Powrtouch Freedom mover actually do?
The Powrtouch Freedom is a motor mover fitted to the caravan’s wheels. Using a wireless handheld remote, you can drive the caravan forwards, backwards, and steer it left or right without touching the drawbar. It makes pitching on tight or sloping sites completely manageable for one person.
