Swift Sprite Major 4SB – 2015 Caravan
The Sprite Major 4SB is the layout that made island beds affordable, and this pre-owned 2015 example shows why it became one of the UK's best sellers. You get a proper walkaround transverse double at the rear, an end washroom behind it, and a spacious parallel lounge up front – all at a weight that ordinary family cars tow without breaking a sweat.
The numbers come straight off the weight plate on the caravan: a Mass in Running Order of 1241kg and an MTPLM of 1397kg, giving a generous 156kg of user payload. At these weights the Sprite tows comfortably behind a wide range of everyday family cars on a standard UK license – no need for a big 4x4.
This was the introductory year for Swift's SMART PURE construction, which replaced traditional timber framing in the walls with polyurethane structural blocks – a major step in reducing the risk of rot from water ingress, and part of why these caravans have aged so well. This example also carries the sought-after Diamond Pack specification: an AL-KO stabiliser hitch, alloy wheels, a panoramic front sunroof and an integrated microwave. You can compare it against the rest of our used caravans, but island bed Sprites at this money are the definition of fast movers. The build reflects Swift Group's design approach, and you can research this caravan's history on the CRiS website using the VIN below.

What Owners Love About The Sprite Major 4SB
- A real walkaround island bed – get in and out on your own side, and the clever sliding mechanism retracts the bed by day to widen the walkway to the washroom.
- End washroom across the back – toilet, basin and shower behind the bedroom, giving the rear of the caravan the feel of a private suite.
- Genuinely light towing – at 1241kg unladen, most family cars will tow this caravan comfortably, verified straight from the plate.
- 156kg of payload – more carrying capacity than many newer rivals, so you can pack properly.
- Panoramic front sunroof – the Diamond Pack sunroof floods the lounge with light and makes the front of the caravan a lovely place to sit.

Interior Highlights
Bedroom: The transverse island bed (1.85m x 1.33m) sits across the rear with access from both sides and storage beneath. Its sliding design retracts by around 20cm during the day, opening up the walkway through to the washroom – a genuinely clever piece of packaging.
Washroom: The end washroom sits behind the bedroom with a cassette toilet, basin and shower, keeping the washing facilities tucked privately at the back of the caravan.
Lounge: Up front, two 1.6m parallel settees sit beneath the panoramic sunroof, with overhead lockers and a bright, airy feel. The settees pull out on a slatted base to make a large second double (2.02m x 1.70m), giving the full four-berth capacity.
Kitchen: A practical central kitchen with a hob, oven and grill, sink, fridge and the Diamond Pack’s integrated microwave, backed up by overhead locker and drawer storage. A fire extinguisher and fire blanket are also on board.
Technology: A Sargent charging and control system, water pump and inboard plumbing, mains sockets, and the caravan’s central 12v systems – simple, proven equipment that is easy to live with and easy to maintain.

EXTERIOR & TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Sprite rides on an AL-KO galvanised steel chassis with a single Euro-axle and the Diamond Pack’s AL-KO stabiliser hitch and alloy wheels, making it a well-mannered, easy tow. External service points include the mains hook-up inlet, direct-to-tap water inlet and the cassette toilet access hatch, with a wide front gas locker for two bottles.
The SMART PURE bodyshell keeps timber out of the wall framing, which is a genuine long-term advantage on a caravan of this age. This pre-owned example presents tidily inside and out. If the layout is not quite right, our full range of used caravans includes fixed singles, bunk models and newer island beds to compare.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Has the caravan been checked for damp?
A: Every used caravan we sell at Golden Castle is inspected before it goes on sale. This model’s SMART PURE construction replaced timber wall framing with polyurethane blocks specifically to resist rot. Ask us to talk you through the inspection when you enquire or visit.Q: Can I tow this on my driving license?
A: Yes. With an MTPLM of 1397kg (verified from the weight plate), this caravan can be towed on a standard UK license with a suitable tow car. Since the rules changed in 2021, drivers who passed after 1997 can tow up to 3,500kg of combined trailer weight.Q: Will my car tow it?
A: Using the 85% rule of thumb, a car with a kerbweight of around 1,650kg or more is a comfortable match – which covers a huge range of ordinary family cars. Tell us what you drive and we will check the match for you.Q: How does the sliding island bed work?
A: During the day the bed retracts back by around 20cm at the touch of the frame, widening the walkway to the end washroom. At night you slide it out to its full 1.85m x 1.33m size. It stays made up either way.Q: Is a 2015 caravan a sensible buy?
A: Very much so, if it has been looked after. This generation introduced Swift’s timber-free wall construction, and at this weight and price it is a superb first island bed caravan. Come and inspect it yourself – we encourage it.Q: What do I need to buy before my first trip?
A: Beyond the caravan itself you will want a leisure battery, gas bottle, water and waste containers, a hitch lock and a step. We can advise on all of it and get you set up ready to tow away.Q: Do you take part exchange?
A: Contact us with the details of your current caravan and we will be happy to discuss a part exchange valuation.Q: Can I check the caravan’s history myself?
A: Absolutely. The CRiS number is SGDST2ESWF0902289 and you can verify it independently on the CRiS website – we encourage every buyer to do so.
