How the Split-System Architecture Works
Unlike standard monoblock units that struggle with efficiency and noise, the Twinair 5 utilizes a highly intelligent split system. The indoor unit (evaporator) gently circulates cold air inside your vehicle, while the outdoor unit (condenser) handles the noisy heat extraction outside.
They are connected by a flexible, ultra-flat refrigerant hose that easily passes through a window, providing professional-grade cooling (up to 30 m³ volume) without the hefty installation costs of a roof-mounted unit.
-
Installation & The "Thermal Bridge" Pro-Tip
Setting up the Twinair 5 takes minutes. Simply place the external unit on its provided brackets outside the window, run the flat hose through the opening, and mount the internal unit inside.
Golden Castle Pro-Tip: Because the window remains slightly ajar for the hose, it can create a “thermal bridge” where warm air and insects can sneak in. We highly recommend using a simple rolled towel or a custom foam insert to seal the remaining window gap. This locks the cold air in and ensures maximum cooling efficiency!
-
Night Mode & Campsite Etiquette
A good night’s sleep is essential on holiday. Internally, the Twinair 5 operates on a “Super Silent” profile. However, because the outdoor condenser is doing the hard work, it naturally produces more sound outside.
When camping in close proximity to others, simply activate the dedicated Night Mode. This function specifically lowers the external decibel output, ensuring you maintain excellent campsite etiquette and keep your neighbours happy while you sleep in a perfectly chilled cabin.
-
Multi-Purpose Use (Take it Home!)
Because this system requires zero permanent installation, its utility doesn’t end when the touring season does. The Twinair 5 is highly effective for cooling small home bedrooms or home offices during the summer heatwaves, making it a truly versatile year-round investment.
-
Decommissioning & End-of-Season Care
To ensure your Rotary Scroll compressor lasts for years, proper storage is key:
-
Internal Drying: Before packing it away for the winter, run the unit in Fan Mode for at least 4 hours. This evaporates any residual moisture on the cooling coils and prevents mold.
-
Condensate Clearance: Manually tilt the units to ensure all water is fully drained from the internal collection trays.
-
Filtration: Clean both the intake filter screen and the bottom filter sieve.
-
Storage: Always store the unit in its original packaging in a dry, upright position to prevent any refrigerant migration issues.

FAQ
General & Performance
-
What is the cooling output of the Brunner Polarys TwinAir NG 5200? The system delivers a robust 5200 BTU (1520W) of cooling output driven by a premium quality compressor.
-
What size vehicle is this air conditioner suitable for? It is designed for interior volumes of approximately 25 to 30 m³. This perfectly covers most standard touring caravans, 2-to-4-berth campervans, and mid-size motorhomes up to around 7 meters in length.
-
Does the Polarys TwinAir NG 5200 provide heating? No, this is a cooling-only model.
UK Stock & Product Variants
-
Is the “Hot & Cold” (heating) version of the TwinAir NG available in the UK? > Stock Notice: While Brunner manufactures a separate Polarys TwinAir NG Hot & Cold variant with integrated heat pump functionality, Brunner will not stock the Hot & Cold version in the UK this year. Any listings or mentions you may see online regarding UK availability for the Hot & Cold model are outdated, as UK distribution channels will not be receiving stock of the heating-capable unit for this season. The standard, high-performance cooling model remains the primary choice for the UK market.
Installation & Portability
-
How is the system installed? Do I need to drill holes? No drilling or permanent vehicle modifications are required. The indoor evaporator sits inside the vehicle (on a worktop, under a window, or beside a wardrobe), while the outdoor condenser is placed outside. Both units are linked by flexible hoses that easily pass through a partially open window.
-
Can I remove the air conditioner between trips? Yes. The system is fully portable with no permanent fixtures. Both units lift out easily and the connecting hoses can be detached, allowing you to pack the components away for off-season storage or seamlessly transfer them to a different leisure vehicle.
Power & Campsite Compatibility
-
What power supply does it require? The unit operates on a standard 230V – 50Hz mains electricity supply.
-
Will it trip the circuit breaker at a campsite? It is highly unlikely. The system consumes just 580W, which sits comfortably within a typical 6A or 10A campsite hook-up. This low power draw allows you to run the AC alongside other standard low-draw appliances like a fridge, lights, or chargers without overloading the pitch supply.
Noise & Design
-
How quiet is the TwinAir NG 5200 during operation? It is significantly quieter inside the cabin than a conventional single-box portable AC. Because the system uses a split design, the loudest mechanical components—the compressor and the main fan—are housed in the outdoor unit. The indoor unit handles air circulation only, preserving a quiet and peaceful living space.
-
What do the design updates look like? As a new-generation model, it features a sleek, modernized casing with refined grey color detailing specifically styled to match contemporary recreational vehicle interiors.
