Swift Sprite Major 4SB – 2022 Caravan

The Sprite Major 4SB is one of the most popular island bed layouts in the UK, and it is easy to see why couples love it. This pre-owned 2022 example gives you a proper walkaround double bed, a full-width end washroom with a separate shower, and a spacious front lounge – all on a single axle that most family cars can tow. This used caravan comes well equipped too, with a solar panel on the roof and a motor mover already fitted, both confirmed in our photographs.

It is built using Swift's SMART construction – GRP body panels over a timberless frame designed to keep moisture out of the structure. The numbers come straight off the weight plate on the caravan: a Mass in Running Order of 1286kg and an MTPLM of 1442kg, leaving a 156kg payload for your touring kit. At these weights it tows comfortably behind a wide range of family cars and SUVs on a standard UK license. You can compare it against the rest of our used caravans, but a 2022 island bed Sprite at this money will not sit around. The build reflects Swift Group's design approach, and you can research this caravan's history on the CRiS website using the VIN below.

  • What Owners Love About The Sprite Major 4SB
    • A real walkaround island bed – get in and out on your own side, no clambering, and it retracts during the day to open up the walkthrough.
    • Full-width end washroom – separate shower cubicle, vanity basin and toilet across the back, so it feels like a proper bathroom.
    • Solar panel fitted – keeps the leisure battery topped up on pitches without hook-up.
    • Motor mover fitted – final positioning on the pitch or driveway is done from the handset.
    • Light single-axle towing – at 1286kg unladen, most families will not need to change their car to tow this caravan.
  • Interior Highlights

Bedroom: The transverse island bed sits across the rear of the caravan with access from both sides, reading lights, a window either side and wardrobe storage. During the day the bed retracts to give easy walkthrough access to the washroom.

Washroom: The full-width end washroom spans the back with a separate shower cubicle, vanity basin with storage and a cassette toilet. Having the bathroom behind the bedroom gives the whole rear of the caravan the feel of a private suite.

Lounge: Up front, two parallel sofas sit either side of a central chest of drawers with an occasional table, with overhead lockers, curtains and blinds, and a roof light keeping it bright. The lounge converts to a large double bed when guests come along, giving the full four-berth capacity.

Kitchen: A practical mid kitchen with a gas hob, oven and grill, stainless steel sink, under-counter fridge and an integrated microwave, backed up by overhead lockers and drawer storage.

Technology: The caravan’s systems are managed from a central control panel, with a Sargent charger and consumer unit, water pump, mains sockets, USB charging points, radio speakers and an aerial system, plus the charge controller supporting the roof solar panel.

  • EXTERIOR & TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Outside, the 2022 Sprite carries Swift’s clean styling on alloy wheels with a single axle and hitch stabiliser, making it a well-mannered, easy tow. The fitted motor mover – confirmed at the wheel – takes care of final positioning at the push of a button.

The solar panel on the roof keeps the leisure battery charged for off-grid pitches. There is a front gas locker, external service points, an external battery compartment and access hatches for the water and waste systems. This pre-owned example presents very well inside and out, as you would expect of a 2022 model. If the layout is not quite right, our full range of used caravans includes fixed singles, bunk layouts and twin axles.

  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Has the caravan been checked for damp?
A: Every used caravan we sell at Golden Castle is inspected before it goes on sale. Ask us for the details on this Sprite when you enquire or visit, and we will happily talk you through its condition.

Q: Can I tow this on my driving license?
A: Yes. With an MTPLM of 1442kg, this caravan can be towed on a standard UK license with a suitable tow car. Since the rules changed in 2021, drivers who passed after 1997 can tow up to 3,500kg of combined trailer weight, so this outfit is well within the limit for most drivers.

Q: Will my car tow it?
A: As a rule of thumb, experienced caravanners aim for the caravan’s MTPLM to be no more than 85% of the car’s kerbweight, which suggests a car of around 1,700kg kerbweight or more for a comfortable match. Tell us what you drive and we will check the match for you.

Q: What is the advantage of an island bed?
A: You each get your own side of the bed – no climbing over each other at night – and the mattress is a proper fixed double that stays made up all holiday. On the 4SB the bed also retracts during the day, so you keep easy access through to the washroom.

Q: Does the solar panel mean I can camp without electric hook-up?
A: The fitted solar panel tops up the leisure battery whenever there is daylight, supporting lighting, the water pump and 12v equipment on non-electric pitches. For longer off-grid stays we can advise on battery capacity to suit how you tour.

Q: What do I need to buy before my first trip?
A: Beyond the caravan itself you will want a leisure battery, gas bottle, water and waste containers, a hitch lock and a step. We can advise on all of it and get you set up ready to tow away.

Q: Do you take part exchange?
A: Contact us with the details of your current caravan and we will be happy to discuss a part exchange valuation.

Q: Can I check the caravan’s history myself?
A: Absolutely. The CRiS number is SGDST2FSWN0931382 and you can verify it independently on the CRiS website – we encourage every buyer to do so.
